Workshops

Amanda is a Yuin Nations woman and former social worker. During covid 2020 lockdowns she decided to live her dream and start up her own small business as a healer and teacher. She wanted to give back to the community and provide healing and connection in a modern way during covid lockdowns,  by utilising the  technology available she began offering therapeutic based cultural creative workshops and was able to show that it was possible to have traditional womens circles over platforms like zoom setting a precedent in how we adapted and continued to remain strong when kept away physically from each other

The success of her online workshops have kept so many connected in culture, community and and  with each. They have enabled her to continue to stay at home and raise her son as a single parent and for that she is so grateful.

Amanda has earned her stripes and reputation as a highly recommended Cultural Facilitator and teacher . She is known for her story telling gift , sense of humor, well planned/ presented workshops and her authenticity. She holds space well and captivates her audience with her calming and welcoming presence.

Amanda is a regular facilitator for Djirra Koori Women's place, and has run workshops for a multitude of organisations across Victoria such as Djirra, NarmDjambana, Boondawan willam, VACCHO, Connecting Home, VACCA, Ngarrimilli, Deadlysistagirlz, Maribyrnong council, OONAH belonging place, Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering place, kids on Mullum child care centre, KIRRIP, Department of Justice,  Eastern Health, & Western Health just to name a few.

Emu Feather Necklace (Emu Dreaming Necklace)

The emu feather necklace is a special experience for all those who participate, it is designed around our significant connection to our animals especially birds and their ancestral spirits.

Yuin people have always used feathers, echidna quills, and other animal products in traditional clothing or jewellery. Yuin mob believe in the healing properties of rocks and stones, which is where Amanda believes  her passion for feathers, plants, crystals, and fossils originates from. Most of her jewellery and artistic pieces are inspired by her ancestors and people.

It is our artists belief that our feathers carry with them ancestral and spirit messages from the heavens above. Emu feathers are soft and light representing the spirits that we can not see but often feel & hear in the gentle whispers of the wind.

It is her hope that by Recreating her artistic piece, making and then wearing these emu feather necklaces the women feel the presence of their ancestors softly and quietly walking along side with them, providing them with strength, courage and comfort in the fact they are never truly alone especially in the times in which they need it the most.

Mun-Dah’s gift - Jewellery Making Workshop

This workshop was created in honour of Mun-dah the red bellied black snake. While meditating and connecting with the red bellied black snakes energy our artist created pendants and earrings, in this beautiful moment The Wax Treasures feathers “Mun-Dahs“ gift workshop was born.
Join our Yuin Artist Amanda while she shares  the Dreamtime story of Bah’naga the goanna and Mun-dah the red bellied black snake.

Through the ancient traditions and practices of story telling you will hear Mun-Dahs side of the story and learn to love her as a hero and not as a villain that she is often portrayed as.

in this workshop our aim to educate and create awareness of this beautiful and gentle creature whilst facilitating a healing and creative experience for all involved. To ensure that the protection and conservation of this species and her habitat remains protected for many generations to come.

Snakes are often seen as something to be feared out of misunderstandings and lack of knowledge. By sharing her story and her gift of shedded skin you will create some beautiful jewellery to serve as power pieces for those who participate in the workshop. It is often when we connect with our ancestral spirits and the lessons they give us we are able to find strength, build resilience and demonstrate courage whenever We need it most.
